Gold Hill Founder’s Day – September 22

Founders Day

The day begins at 9am with Arts, Crafts, Heritage Living Displays, Gold Panning and more throughout the park. Tractors, Hit & Miss Engines and Civil War Living History will be on display at the Log Barn. The Founders Day Parade begins at 10am followed by Entertainment at the Amphitheater at 11am. History Hayrides take place throughout the afternoon through the 70 acre park to sites including the Gold Hill Pond and the Powder House. The North Carolina Bluegrass Association will host music at the Amphitheater.   Children can join the fun of finding gold nuggets hidden throughout the park. The nuggets can be used during the festival to purchase select items at the Park Information Booth.

Hayrides to the Gold Hill Pond and Powder House will be scheduled throughout the afternoon beginning at noon. Ride tickets may be purchased at the Assay Office/Post Office Museum across street from the Jail. Tickets are $1 per rider.

Kids 10 & Under will enjoy the thrill of hunting for gold nuggets in the park. The nuggets may be used to purchase trinkets or candy at the Historic Foundation Food Booth by the Bridge in the park.





The Gold Hill Fire Department will host Fire House Safety Training for kids. Stop by to say hello and show your appreciation to the fire fighters who risk their lives to save ours every day. The Gold Hill Fire Department Auxiliary will also be on hand.




The parade begins at 10am. All units and riders should plan to arrive at the Gold Hill Fire Dept. beginning at 9am. Line-up is along Baptist Church Road which turns off of US Hwy Old 80 beside the Fire Dept. The parade ends at Old Beatty Ford Road. The easiest exit for all units wishing to return to the Fire Department should turn left and go a quarter mile then turn left on US Hwy Old 80 (dirt road).
